Well, we made it. Today is Drew Bear's 1st birthday. A year ago today was a comedy of errors getting him here, but as frustrating as the delivery was.. God blessed us with a happy, healthy little boy..
Here's a recap of the delivery experience:
Drew was born on November 12, 2006 at 9:21pm weighing in at 8lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long. To make a long story short, after arriving at the hospital at 5:45am to be induced, having to wait till 11:15am to actually begin the induction process, 3pm finding out the pitocin wasn't hooked up to me and had been dripping on the floor for 4 hours, having my water broke at 5, Drew reacting to the pitocin around 7, drew not being centered over my pelvis, being told at 8:30pm being told it was time to go get him, given injection of dextrose which led to a horrible case of the shakes and me getting sick before, during and after the c-section, and then of course having all your innards pulled out, but a beautiful little boy was the end result. All I have to say is , God bless the doctor who was enlightened enough to discover epidurals! Despite all of the chaos, I would do it all over again. And of course I got to see a whole new side of my amazing husband. He definitely can step up to a challenge when presented with one, especially when it comes to his family. I am truly blessed to have such a loving husband.
It really is true, when they say you forget all the bad parts of labor.. now I can laugh at our story and know that God was with us all the time.
We had the big birthday bash on Saturday. It was a ton of fun with friends and family. We even had a surprise visit from a college friend, Victor Villalobos, who was Kev's roommate one summer. Drew's favorite gift was a set of ball pit balls that we poured into a baby pool. He loves to swish them around
Here are a few pics form the big bash:
Playing with his friend Garret in the ball pit
His way cool cake made lovingly by mommy..the teddy bear on the table was actually the same centerpiece at Kevin's 1st birthday
MMMM icing..
I like cake!

Drew, Mommy and Daddy love you very much. You are truly a gift from God and we would not trade one single day we have had with you. Your smile and laughter fills our home everyday and we cannot wait to see who God has planned for you to become. Happy Birthday baby!

wow, that sounds like the delivery of all my worst fears. I hope this next one, um, comes out (be it delivery or birth) much easier.
Happy Birthday, Drew!
